Just to add on to my previous post.
When A.Net does actually implement a separate economy system. Immediately that ridiculous 500 plat weapon prices will crash overnight.
Without question.

Apparently this isn't a forum about how the fun factor died, but it's instead a forum flat out bashing Guild Wars.... G'luck with that generik.

Good One
Wow the whole thread changed over the few pages. I find it boring, but not as boring as it would be to have the best weapon in the game killing n00bs off for their ears. After a while that gets straight up boring.

Different people have different notions of "reward".
Some likes to kill other players to prove that they are "supreme". For one, I don't share that concept, lock out PvE items to the PvE area if they'd will, and have PvPers earn their FoW/15K armors by exchanging it with faction points to "look cool" in the arenas (hey, let's face it, it IS logical)
I just like to have more variety and colour in game play.

generik: The reason the drops are somewhat bland, is to a large degree the steps anet has taken to stem farmers and botters. The reason the prices (at least in the US) is through the roof, is entirely due to the farmers and botters. The sad equation is that better drops = more farming and botting = more scams, items sold on ebay, and higher prices.
To be perfectly honest I also get the impression you really want a traditional MMORPG like world of warcraft or city of heroes. It might be a good idea for you to try either out.
However, for what it's worth, I also used to think PvP and PvE should be separated, so that neither items, skills, runes, or avatars can pass from one to the other, just like you don't take Gordon Freeman (of Half Life "PvE") into Half Life Counterstrike (PvP). Now I'm not so sure.

Main problem is that the game neither is meat or fish. Lets compare it to a racing game.
PvP reaction:
I like the racing part but why do I have to earn a vehicle first? And when I get it why do I have to WORK to get a better engine? Better tires? All I want is an ENDLEVEL CAR so I can prove my racing SKILLS!
PvE reaction:
I like building that car. Wow! But I'm not interested in yellow wheels, or blue wheels or red ones.... I want GOOD wheels! Also I'm not interested in racing SKILLS because I only drive as hard as I can on a salt-desert plain to break the world speed record... So I want far BETTER engines and stuff!
Both types of players read on the box its a racing game, both will continue to add sugestions to change the game into the direction they like. I think Anet does its utmost to satisfy both, but it will never be 100% meat or 100% fish

Personally, I played the game, loved it for a while, and then it started to get really, really boring. I have no problem with the skill-based gameplay, but let's face it: at any given time, there's about one great build that most everyone mimics, while the rest work on the way to counter it. That great build is rendered obsolete within a matter of a week or two, and by then another supreme build comes out, and the cycle starts all over.
It seemed to me that the PvE was pretty slopped together... and while I had fun when I played it, it's nothing that I really want to ever go through again. This game's only redeeming factor was the skill-based PvP, and that got old after a while too.
I'm not saying it's a bad game, it just got old way too fast. I guess I was just looking for a longer PvE.

i think the economy got screwed when Anet tried to satisfy everyone instead of keeping things sacred.
Like instead of having runes be something to squeal over when you get them, now you can buy them for fractions of what theyre worth.
The game has no special unlockables that will make you say "Oh man i'm gonna own so much with this"
It's just disapointing, but everyone thinks that item supremacy leads right back to d2.
You know, you can balance skill based with item supremacy....it wouldnt be hard.

umm.. making unique weapons seem to be a good idea (in fact it will open up the whole points of farming for the best stuff out there) but it will make the economy more mess up than it is! For example your selling gold max dmg bow (20-30 and has a +10 armors and +20% dmg if health is over 50%; pretend this is a unique one of the kind weapons with this mod) people would have to pay up worth of 100k or even 150 k for this weapons since its the only one with this mod or because its unique.

It's called PvP, folks. Start a new character purely for PvP. That's what's fun to me. PvP is 50% of the game.
Besides, they are streaming new explorable areas this summer:

yeah?
thatd be good, people in pve shouldnt be handed valuable items without a cost or a hunt.
PVP should have everything unlocked, that would open more stratigical points with emphasize on the weapons playing a bigger part.
I think it'd really help

so far in PVP it unlock most of the items and weapons for your character. Although some of the runes or armors isn't available and that some of the skills has to be brought by faction points (which cost 1000 per skills, last time i checked) Image if you can create a PvP character with every skills available so that you can mix and match them to find a combination that worked.

The point is though that weapons aren't a big part. A skilled warrior who knows what he's doing should be able to go into the arena and own someone who hasn't a clue, regardless of whether or not they have a godly max dmg what ever or a newbie stick. The game is not intended to be a "I've played for 5000 hours and I have the best crap so I rule" type of game. If you want that, go play WoW or EQ.

The bottom line is that there are many who have already left the game and many who are close to that point. That in itself would not be a big deal. Eventually even the best games get stale.
The problem is that GW is only 2 months old!!!
Think about that, all you who are screaming the "this game is not for you" crap. Soon it won't be for you either.
Without drastic changes that at least have to include a significantly higher lvl cap and a lot more item and suf/prefix variety, this game will be dead way before something like D2, and D2 is *already* 5 years old. X-packs will only add 2-3 weeks of excitement each, at best. Bells and whistles that they will provide will not be enough to mask the fact that at the bottom of it all, while the game looks and even plays good for around a month or so, it is basically a bore.

i wish my pre-searing short sword didn't look like my dragon's lair (or late in the game, for simple example of what i mean) short sword though
variety in looks, same stats are something i'd like to see... it's neato to fling around your spiffy looking gear in front of your guild mates!

If you want neato looking stuff, get a Mursaat hammer, a Crystal Blade, or a storm Bow. Those are plenty neato looking.
